Asbestos awareness

Posted on by Gavin

It is vital that contractors can identify asbestos when working on projects. Despite a total ban on the use of asbestos in 1999, asbestos related diseases still cause around 5,000 deaths a year. It is estimated that 12.5 million homes in the UK still contain asbestos, therefore the risk to contractors health is still very prominent.

Central Compliance UK (CCUK) has launched a partnership with the NICEIC and ELECSA to provide training to contractors on the danger of working with asbestos. Training can be done either online or face to face with courses being certified by the UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA). With training, contractors should be able to identify asbestos, therefore creating a safer working environment.
