Electrical Contractors – EV opportunities

Posted on by Gavin

It is without a doubt that the electric vehicle market has boomed over the last year. Sales of new and even used electric vehicles have soared, with Volkswagen announcing that they will have produced 0ne million EVs by 2023. Councils are also investing into the installation of charging points amongst their boroughs in residential areas.

What does this mean for electrical contractors and what opportunities can we benefit from?

* Company vehicle savings – moving the work fleet to EVs could potentially save you money in fuel, road licence and maintenance costs

* Additional services – training in the installation of EV charging points will give you an additional service that you will be able to offer your customer

The NICEIC run courses, across 20 locations, on the installation of EV charging points. They even have courses which run on a Saturday (for any contractors struggling to find time during the week). The course covers

* Understanding the requirements surrounding the installation and OLEV funding

* BS 7671 with Section 722
