Oxford University Museum of Natural History

I read a brilliant article recently regarding the £4 million upgrade of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. The Victorian Glass roof had been expertly and beautifully restored and a stunning architectural lighting scheme had been installed.

Congratulations to all the team involved in the project as they overcame the many hurdles associated in completing the project. For example, the building is grade 1 listed so the contractors were unable to drill and fix into stonework or pillars. They very cleverly used magnets to attach fittings and cables without damaging the listed building.

This was not their only hurdle. Contractors had to deal with immense heat at high level due to the glass roof and make sure that all works could be maintained safely in the future.

Well done guys, you did an excellent job. For anyone who hasn’t seen the finished result, it is well worth a look.
